Who Are H-ALT and Why You Should Register Your Support
H-ALT is an action group that formed in 2013 when Coriolis, a wind energy development business, proposed to build a wind farm consisting of 24 wind turbines in the Lower Alt farmland between Formby, Maghull, Crosby, Ince Blundell, Great Altcar and Lydiate. After the consultation process with West Lancashire Council, the company re-evaluated their proposal and re-submitted their revised planning application on 16th December 2015, of 12 turbines at a height of 136.5 metres (the Radio City tower in Liverpool city centre stands at 138m).
Here is a map below showing the proposed site (a larger map can be seen in INFORMATION);
There are many reasons to STOP this planning application being approved but fundamentally, the windfarm is seen by many as an industrialisation of our local countryside. This turbines will be a catastrophic blight on the local landscape to all the surrounding towns and villages.
In addition to the 12 turbines, the company plans to install a wind monitoring mast, an onsite substation and underground cables, they will also need to build access roads/tracks. Below is an example image of the preparation and enormous excavation that is required for each turbine.
Sefton Church is one of the oldest Christian sites on Merseyside and is the only Grade I listed building in the Metropolitan Borough of Sefton. Below is an image of how a wind turbine compares in height to the Church.
